Dear Friends & Family,

We started off the month with a bang. First day out, Bob & Wendy Webb (missionaries) arrived on a cruise ship with a group of folks. Pastor Ric and I then transported them out to visit Casa Hogar Orphanage and Pan de Vida and the dump area.  They just fell in love with all our little ones in both places. At Casa Hogar they helped us teach and most importantly just loved and socialized with the kids. The most important thing volunteers can do is to love these children who have been abandoned or abused. Many times they are removed from their homes due to neglect or parents who cannot take care of them for one reason or another i.e. Drug & Alcohol abuse, parents deceased or in prison or just plain poverty etc. And on rare occasions they are orphans.

This is the time of year when a lot of people return to Puerto Vallarta. So we will start to have a lot of visitors, which is great as it allows Faye & I to work specifically on individual children’s needs on a one on one basis. We use the visitors to do just simple things like teaching the children to count from one to ten, or teaching colors or body parts in English. I know that the following visitors: Sheryl, Olga & Asia, Freda & Joyce & Roy & Phil & Carol came away in some cases with tears in their eyes and a wonderful burden for the kids. The Orphanage was truly blessed by the out pouring of love and monetary resources of all involved. Speaking of which, we want to especially thank Phil & Carol for their concern for the children’s need for available drinking water for the children. Because of their donation and all of our concerns I approached the Owner Elisa & Directora Aurora and discussed in detail the ability to install a drinking fountain with a water filter system. In the past they had provided a typical inverted water bottle but the kids would use the cups and play with the water so it wasn’t cost effective. But with a fountain there is no need for cups etc. So I asked the owner to obtain pictures & a bid for the system and I would get bids for the installation. They both were very excited about the project and gave their permission to pursue the installation. So I will keep you updated on our progress and maybe you can pray about helping with the costs through donations to our ministry. Remember all donations are tax deductible.

Faye wanted me to mention how the children came running out of Pan de Vida when we arrived for the visit. They welcomed the Webb’s and their group with a hearty “Welcome to Pan de Vida” in English.

Many people have asked for a list of things we are planning to do and what the needs are. Here is a brief list:

  • Dollar store items for rewards for good behavior & accomplishments
  • Coloring books in English & Spanish
  • Any bilingual books
  • Monies for TV & VCR to play Hermie & Veggie Tales
  • Monies for Fountain & Water Purification System
  • Matching government funds to complete upgrading orphanage
  • Building fund for obtaining property for building a community center & school near the mountains at the edge of Puerto Vallarta for the Church in Paradise

Note: You cannot send anything tangible through the mail systems here in Mexico. So things you buy need to be brought by suitcase through you or your friends travel to Puerto Vallarta.

Please remember that Faye & I take none of the donations for our benefit. 90% of the donations go back into the community and 10% goes to Shepherd Staff for administration costs i.e. IRS filings, health insurance etc.

In next months Newsletter, I will be including a breakdown of the monies we spent in the month of November and will continue every month thereafter. Accountability is important for our donors.  Know that each month we send all our receipts with a special form provided by Shepherds Staff Mission Facilitators to Albuquerque to meet the IRS criteria for being a Non-Profit 501(3) c. Thereby all of your deductions are tax free. All the information regarding donations can be obtained by going to our website at www.hwhwmexico.com and any question can be directed to me at Dennis@hwhwmexico.com . Also that is where I post all of our photos.

So my friends won’t you join us in this wonderful ministry to the poor and disadvantaged with your daily prayers & resources.

Dios te Bendiga,

Dennis & Faye
Missionaries

P.s. Do any of you have school age children or grandchildren that would like to have a Pen Pal in Puerto Vallarta?
